Based on an idyllic site, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by organic bio-dynamic farmland, The Light Root Hub was born after the closure of The New School (formally Canterbury Steiner School).

As a group of parents and teachers, passionate about Waldorf education, we felt inspired to co-create The Light Root Hub, a 3 day per week, home-education community, led by highly experienced Waldorf trained tutors.

Children learn in tutor led groups, divided by age and follow tuition built on a foundation of creativity, guided by Waldorf philosophies which engage head, heart and hands and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Home Education and community
The Light Root is an activities based provision offering a part-time immersion in a Waldorf-inspired curriculum to home-educated children aged 6 - 11 years.

Light Root supports home-educating families in specific topics; Maths, English, and Craft, which can be typically difficult for some parents to deliver.
Light Root is not able to provide the majority of a child's education, and it is important that it is taken alongside other learning opportunities throughout the week.
The day for each class begins with the Main Lesson with the class tutor.
The Main Lessons structure is designed to engage students deeply in a specific subject for an extended period of time, typically two hours per day for three to four weeks.
The afternoon school study support lessons are focussed on a specific subject (English, Maths, Craft) and may be with a specialist tutor.
